How To Keep Yourself Looking Forward To Do Your Exercise Routine
One huge problem that many people have with exercise is motivation
. It is easy to sit down at home and come up with this grand plan to become fit. After the first week or two doing the exercise, many people end up quitting or rarely ever doing the exercise routine again. This is commonly why gym memberships are long term, because many gyms know that most people have a hard time staying motivated. What can you do to increase your motivation so that you will exercise more?
The first thing that you need to come up with is real reasons as to why you want to exercise and get into better shape. While looking good for some is enough motivation, for many this is not. You have to know deep down why you want to do this. The stronger the reason, the more likely that you will get out and do the exercise.
It is acceptable to push yourself while exercise and make it hard. This can help you get a better workout. For some experiencing the pain during and after exercise can make them not want to do that ever again. Plan in some easier days so that you will be motivated enough to go out and do the exercise. If it is always hard, you will get faster results. But at the same time, that is a good way to end up quitting completely.
If you do not feel like doing exercise one day, have a shortened routine that you do. This might be a quick 15-minute workout that you can do at home. The reason for this, is that at times you really do not feel like doing the full routine. At least doing the shorter routine keeps you in the habit of doing exercise. Some now is better than none later.
Make your goal to get the exercise done and not something else. Many will exercise 6 times a week for a month expecting to lose 20 pounds. If they do not lose the weight, they quit and feel like a failure. It is hard to control exactly how many pounds you will lose. Make the goal to exercise certain number of times during the week and do not put pressure on yourself to meet a weight loss goal that you really cannot control.
