How To Learn Combat Self Defense Without Joining The Military

It is certainly understandable that the brave men and women who fight in the military should have access to the absolute best training possible

. But that certainly shouldnt mean that the average citizen shouldnt be able to learn a thing or two as well. Unfortunately in this world, combat seems to happen more on our streets than it does in the battle field. And that is why it is important for everyone to learn combat self defense.

Each and every day there are criminals lurking about our streets and preying on anyone who they deem suitable. All it takes is one quick look at a newspaper to see that violent crime such as robberies and muggings are more common than we would like to believe. And that is why it is important to learn at least the very basics of self defense. The first thing you will likely learn when taking on combat self defense is ironically how to avoid getting into a combat situation in the first place. No matter how prepared you are, there arent many among us who welcome a violent situation. On top of the risk of personal injury there is also the risk of complicated court issues, loss of money or property or even the chance of being killed. Therefore, it is in your best interest to learn how to avoid getting into a fight in the first place.

The first thing you need to remember is that criminals are fairly predictable. Although you cant predict when or where they were strike, you can usually predict who they wont strike. So if you can make yourself one of the people that they wont strike, then you are ahead of the game. You may be wondering well how does one do that? Well the answer can be summed up with one word: awareness. The more aware you are of your surroundings as well as what is happening around you, the less likely you are to be attacked. By being aware, you take away the element of surprise that all criminals strive for. If they catch you off guard, it makes their job a lot easier. But if you are at the ready and alert at all times, they simply wont be able to surprise you. And likely, they will move onto easier prey.

But in the unfortunate situation where you do in fact get attacked, it is important to know some combat self defense moves. The reverse elbow is a great move for when you are attacked from behind. It simply involves shoving your elbow backwards as hard as you possibly can. But it is important that it becomes instinctual. Every second you weight, the more the advantage is swayed toward the criminal. If you are facing your attacker, you can use the self defense move called the claw. This simply involves using your head to push their heads backwards, which will make them fall down. There are many different moves out there, but as long as you are aware at all times, you will likely never need to use them
