Dog owners do not really notice how important it is to make sure their house is a good and safe place for their dogs to live and play in

. Furniture, decorations, curtains and other home interior items could actually wind up hurting your dog. Here are some tips to help make your home a dog-friendly environment.

Enclose the stairs

If your house has a staircase, then its best to keep the bottom closed so that the dog will not go up the stairs. They could accidentally trip or fall, especially if they are not used to using the stairs. Its best to keep them downstairs. If you have a dog for house guarding purposes, they can keep watch better if you keep them from going up and down the premises.

Keep the floor slip proof

Dogs have a tendency to run around even if there really is not much space to move. When inside the house, dogs could slip on the floor when they run, especially if the floor is made from tiles or wood. A good idea is to place corner rugs or mats down so that your dog can get a good grip when they are walking around inside the house. Give them their own spot

A nice cozy spot where they can sleep and lie down would be great. You can get them a bed, but if you dont feel like splurging on one, get them a big, comfy mat with pillows. Just make sure that the materials used on the bed and pillows are water and stain proof. Its easier to use and they last longer. DM in dogs, during its final stages, will result in paralysis. This means that the area needs to be comfortable and must not have any borders like the ones on dog beds. It will also be easier for you to move them around if you just use a mat.
