All of us have our favourite rock or pop star or even group that we idolise and follow
. Music is a huge part of most peoples lives and musicians often have a sort of god-like persona in the eyes of the fans. Not many of us are lucky enough to meet our musical idols and instead have to settle with going to all their gigs and hoping that one day we will get to actually meet them. For some, seeing an idol up on the stage is not and they really want to get that elusive picture or autograph. But how can you do this without turning into a crazy stalker? Well, follow these simple steps and you will hopefully get that perfect photo and autograph!Once you have got your tickets, make sure you do your research! You need to find out as much as you can about the venue and its surroundings as possible. Things you should know include the time when the gates or doors open, where the buses park, are there any restaurants or hotels near by where your idol may go after the gig. All these things will help you to track down your favourite star after the show. Top tip: the two best times to catch someone are the hours before the venue opens and less than an hour after the show is over.
On the day of the show make sure you get there early! Usually around 2-3 hours before the gates open is sufficient. This will give you enough time to have a look around and see if the band or singer has arrived yet and you may even be lucky enough to see them hanging around before the show. Being the first into a concert definitely has its advantages.
If the concert has assigned seating then this is a disadvantage as it means you are stuck in your seat. If you are lucky enough to get a general admission ticket then at least you can chose where you sit! Obviously, try to get as close to the stage as possible. If you can get to the very first row then great as you might be able to get the attention of the people on stage and you can get some great photos! Try and make eye contact with them whilst theyre on stage and the pictures will look even better!
After the concert is over, take your time getting out of the venue. You dont need to rush as the band or singer wont be get out of the venue immediately, some may even stay to sign merchandise. However, if they are really famous then they will probably head out as soon as possible so head to the buses to catch them. The best place to wait is as close to the buses as you can get. Some venues have fences separating the public from the buses so the best place to wait is midway down the fence line. You will have to take photos and pass items to be signed through the fence. There will probably be some security around the area and you need to make sure that you follow their instructions and the more respect you show them, the bigger the chance of getting what you want.
The best tip is to plan ahead and sometimes it is all about luck. Simply being in the right place at the right time could result in a shock meeting so always make sure that you have a pen and paper on you just in case you bump into your favourite star!
