How To Pack Your Roof Box Correctly

When you are planning your roadtrip with the family to a great seaside holiday or

off-road adventure or your annual ski trip with a bunch of friends you might need additional storage for your car and the perfect solution will be a quality roof box. There are many roof boxes on the market and you should certainly shop around however, you will find very high quality roof boxes from direct importers without the big brand price tags to save you money.

Fitting everything you need to take into the car and the roof box becomes the dilemma and you'll need to do a little careful planning to make sure your vehicle is safe to drive and your roof box doesn't come tumbling down. Once you choose to use a roof box and add this extra weight to your motor vehicle you are altering the centre of gravity of the car. Particularly if you have a small car the roof box can sway the car more and change the handling charactristics of the car.

Larger vehicles and four wheel drives are less sensitive to these issues as they have much more weight and stronger structural points. Your camping gear, sports gear, spares, clothing perhaps some waer and foodstuffs could be required to be stored in the roof box. However, before you start remember you have a roof box sitting atop of roof racks sitting above your car. Hence weight is a crtical issue for your consideration.

You might find that it is easier and simpler to pack those items like ski poles or bulky clothes in the roof box. Items that have little weight but do take up lots of space inside your vehicles cabin and or are awkward to store like ski poles. When you do your shopping search and you find the short list of potential suppliers it will be ideal to have a quick chat with them to explain your needs and you should then be given the correct options of roof boxes to choose from. And you may need to consider the correct roof racks if you don't have any and or your existing roof racks may not be suitable to carry the roof box you require.

When packing the roof box your heavy objects should be loaded as close to the middle of the roof box as you can in order to distribute the weight evenly. Make sure you secure your luggage to prevent it from moving around and never exceed the maximum roof load. Finally, don't drive like you don't have extra load.

You now need to make allowances for the extra load on the road so drive safely with that in mind.
