How To Pick Locks With A Credit Card

This article applies to anyone who has ever been locked out of their own home! Or in my case

, locked out by my 4 year old who thought it was hilarious not to let mommy back in! After that moment I knew I wanted to learn how to be like the people in movies and attempt to learn how to pick locks with a credit card. After weeks of attempts I finally have it down and am willing to pass on my new found knowledge!

You need a flexible and large card

-Don't use your credit card it just gets damaged then you have to get a replacement one!

-A gift card worked great for me, maybe a old grocery store car, or movie rental card would work as well.

-Also, a plastic strip off of an old soda bottle works great, you can cut it to any length,

OK now for the good stuff!

Slide the card into the crack between the frame and the door next to the lock. Slide the card in as far as it will go.

Tilt the card so that it is bending down touching the doorknob. Keep pushing it until you feel that it is still sliding in.

Now, bend the card the other direction, forcing the lock to go back. Very quickly open the door! I recommend pushing against the door with your shoulder, this helps to pop it open!

Trust me, you are not going to get the door to open the first time... It doesn't take practice and patience! Its not as easy as it looks in the movies. Once you have it mastered it will be a great trick to show off to your friends and family!

Remember some door are harder then others. If the deadbolt is locked on the door, unfortunately it can't be picked, there is no way to unlock a dead bolt with a credit card. That requires drilling.

Needless to say, Its smart to have deadbolt locks on all outside doors in case of buglers who know this same skill ask you!

If your neighbors see you trying to break in with a credit card make sure they know you and know that you are the owner of the home! You don't want to end up in jail for trying to break into your own home!
