How To Waste Time At The Airport

There are some easy ways to make this happen.

First things first: you'll want to find a quiet spot where you can sit and sleep. There's nothing like sleep to make the time go quickly, and there's nothing worse than hearing the announcer blare over the airport intercom that flights from Washington to Fort Lauderdale are now deparing from Gate 6. It'll wake you from your slumber and only increase the stress of airport travel.

If you're with your family travelling from an airport like Heathrow, and travelling from Terminal 5, then you're in luck. This, like many modern airports, was constructed with passengers in mind, and it is sufficiently well equipped and large that when you're waiting for a flight, there are enough quiet spaces with nice furniture that make sleeping simple. Find a quiet spot, put in some ear plugs, and your and your family will very quickly be leaving Heathrow to make those connecting flights from Seattle to Spokane.

Once you've slept all you can, or if your children wake you demanding to know why you aren't taking flights from Chicago to Rochester this year to see Grandma and Grandpa, then you'll have to get more creative. Think about your other basic needs. You've already slept, now you need to go get some exercise. So walk around the airport, tire out the children, and be refreshed and ready for the flight. You'll be sitting down for a long time, so it's best to stretch your legs while you can. And if you can get a little exercise that ends up tiring you out ready to sleep on the plane, then what's the harm?
