Legitimate businesses will either have websites or phone numbers with addresses on the internet where you can make a call to verify if the caller is truly a person working in the said company.

However, if you came across a fake phone call from a legitimate business, do inform them that you received a phony call from someone claiming to be from that company. Fake phone calls should also be reported to the police station in order for them to trace. To make your report stronger, list down the attributes of the caller's voice. Anything that you can recall from the gender, accents, or anything specific that can be identified. Also note down the time and date of the call, to make your statement solid.
