However, one of the key elements to a good affiliate program is working with a good merchant promoting a good product or service. Each merchant has its advantages and disadvantages. There is no perfect affiliate merchant. To choose the best affiliate program, you will want to decide on one that has the most benefits with the least drawbacks. There are many affiliate programs available online and the vast majority of them are probably not worth working with, which is why you will need to do your research before deciding on one. For example, "Wolverine boots" is much easier to promote than "boots" and "Progressive Auto Insurance" is much easier to promote than "auto insurance" and far easier to promote than "generic auto insurance." * Experience - Finally, find a merchant to work with that is well established in their field. If they are just getting started then there is little brand recognition and the conversion rate will be poorer. In addition, when just getting started in business there is a lot to learn and a lot of bugs to get fixed which often leads to more trouble that it is worth. Since you are the one new to the business, you want to be working with someone who knows the ropes well and will be there to help you. Two blind people don't necessarily want to be walking the same path together.If you're ready to start your affiliate business, your first task will be to find a reputable merchant to work with.
