How to Decorate Your House with a Mirro?
I've known some ladies who never passed a mirror they didn't fall in 'love' with. And, for them, a big, bright beautiful mirror hanging on the wall is one of life's necessities. This isn't meant to sound unfair to the ladies... they just seem generally more concerned with appearance.
There are lots of mirrors to choose from and they come in every conceivable price range. Some hang on the wall or door and some stand on the floor. You can find plain, full-sized ones for less than twenty dollars or spend thousands (and more) on something fancy and ornate. All should deliver a fairly accurate reflection and be easy to install and use (although all aren't).
For those living in cramped quarters an over the door mirror is a particularly good option. If you rent an apartment you won't have to worry about making big holes in the wall to install it and it won't require much space (unlike the free-standing types).
Mirrors that install on the back of a door are usually lightweight, inexpensive to buy and large enough to view your entire body, from head to toe. And even when not in use directly, they still bring function to your living space. They will make the room brighter and also give the illusion of the area being larger than it actually is.
For those living in a home with a fireplace an overmantle mirror might be something to consider. The space between the ceiling and the mantle above the fireplace can sometimes present a decorating challenge. Some will opt for a large picture or portrait in this area but a mirror can add function, beauty and a touch of style.
Mirrors for above the mantle come in a variety of configurations. The triptych design has always been particularly popular for this application. This consists of three separate mirror surfaces often hinged together but sometimes three distinct pieces in a matched set. Most mirrors placed above a mantle are rectangular but many other shapes are also available.
Free standing, adjustable mirrors are good for use in certain areas and the story about their invention is an interesting one (but that'll have to wait for a later discussion). For the budget minded or those with a smaller living space, a mirror attached to the back of a door is ideal. They're readily available. Have a look.
