People seem to be hooked on the notion that there are only three meals a day: breakfast, lunch and dinner. They are absolutely correct...but that does not mean that you can only eat three times a day. When you eat three times a day, you tend to eat more or even over eat because you think you can't eat any more until the next meal. That worked well for us when we were children because we never gave the food a chance to settle. We would eat and then be sent outside to play. By the time the next meal time came around you have burned so much energy that your body needs the refuel.
As adults it does not work that way. We don't want to go outside and play. For this reason we need to watch both what we eat and how much we eat.. We still need to eat the standard three meals a day but we need to minimize the portions and have light healthy snacks in between meals. Doing so will help build your metabolism.
Daily exercise will compliment your healthy eating. Your exercise regiment should include cardio, weightlifting and abs. An effective cardio workout should last at least 30 minutes. Weightlifting will add muscle tone while burning calories at the same time. The ab workout should be done three times a week. Pick exercises that you enjoy doing and give yourself a variety so that you don't get bored easily.
