Many people repeatedly choose the same type of home lighting in all rooms of the house
. In fact, most of us have become so used to our poorly-lit homes that we are unaware of the substantial improvement that correct home lighting can make.
Older kitchens are usually limited to a large ceiling light and recessed lights over the stove. Complete kitchen remodels will also include LED lights under the counters and several light fixtures throughout the kitchen. The result is a dramatic overhaul of your poorly lit and difficult to work in kitchen.
Bedrooms are usually lit by a couple of table lamps that either do not create adequate lighting in the room or are used with high wattage bulbs that emit a glaring light. Bedrooms should have one light that illuminates the room and two smaller table lamps that emit a soft white light. Trying to accomplish all of your bedroom home lighting needs with just lamps or high wattage bulbs is counterproductive.
Most people are not aware of the various needs of their living room when considering home lighting. The living room should be a dynamic room, and is often the centre of activity. When you are watching TV for example, small table lamps are perfect for providing the right level of lighting. The same table lamps are inefficient for providing enough light to play a family game or read the paper. In the living room, you should choose home lighting that will provide an adequate amount of light for different activities. Again, attempting to accomplish all of this with a couple of table lamps will not be efficient. You need the right balance of lights to suit all occasions.
The best way to choose home lighting is to observe the room during the morning, at dusk and at night. At each stage of the day, is your lighting sufficient? Are your lights overpowering at dusk? Do you have a good reading lamp for the evenings? Assessing the room will quickly allow you to identify your lighting needs. As you assess each room, make note of what lights can fill lighting needs in other rooms. You may be able to move some lights around, in addition to purchasing additional home lighting.
