Scabies is one of the prominent skin conditions, affecting millions across the globe. This condition is caused by the underlying parasites that reside beneath the surface of the skin. These parasites, also known as mites, would lay their eggs and reproduce on the human host. They also complete a full life cycle of 21 days beneath the surface of the skin. These mites would cause a lot of itching to the sufferer and would soon develop a rash. The itching would worsen at night and the patients suffering from scabies are often sleep deprived.

During the early stages of this skin condition, you wouldn't notice any bumps or rashes. However, as soon as these symptoms would start appearing, they could often be confused with some other skin conditions. There are pimple-like itches or mosquito-like bites that denote the presence of the underlying mites. Quite a few times, there would be the presence of scales on the surface of the skin. These are usually the areas where the mites could be found. The body continues to develop allergic reactions to the materials excreted by these mites and therefore the patient continues to experience itching for a long time.

The mites would often need moist and warm atmosphere to survive. Hence, for the most part, you would find scabies in the lesser exposed parts of the body including the breasts, knees, armpits, shoulders, pubic region, fingers and toes. You would also notice small red bumps, which would bleed in severe cases of scabies.
