How to Stop Panic Attacks in 3 Simple Steps

Anybody who is affected by panic attacks is aware just how horrific they can be. You never really know when another incident will occur and it's awkward when you are in the presence of a large group of people and sense one coming on. In this article I will share with you how to stop panic attacks in 3 simple steps.

1) Paper bag:

You have more than likely already heard hundreds of times about the old paper bag trick but it honestly works. I recommend having a paper bag within arm's reach in your home, at your office and with you at all times. When you sense an attack approaching, get the paper bag and breathe for 30 seconds into the bag and then breathe naturally for 30 seconds. Swap in between both until your attack fizzles out.

2) Noise distractions:

One more method that works good is if you sense a panic attack coming on, turn on something like the radio, TV or put your headphones on if at all possible. For some strange reason, noise distractions assist you in feeling more aware and not as disconnected. Some individuals even sense that they are losing their wits but this assists in getting you back to the present moment.

3) Reassurance:

Whenever I would feel an attack approaching, I use to think to myself that everything would be all right. I would talk to myself in my head but I ultimately learned that by saying those words out loud as an alternative to keeping them inside my head, it helped remarkably. A few internal feelings have even been identified to make your anxiety worse so speak up and shout it if you need to.

From now on, every time you sense an attack coming on, say to yourself out loud that this is just one more panic attack like all the rest and it will be gone soon. You will feel better and calmer in just a matter of minutes.

I hope these tips for how to stop panic attacks in 3 simple steps have been helpful. Nothing seems simple in the moment when you are on the brink of another attack. But you also are conscious of the fact that you will be just fine and resume your normal day to day activities. Just give a few of these tips a try and you may soon realize how useful they really are.
