As email marketers, our main purpose is to convince people who receive our emails to take action. Everyone says the money is in the list, but even them biggest list in the world is useless if you cannot get people to take action.

The most likely cause of having a 'dead' list is the 'lack of after-care'. This is the importance of writing powerful emails. You must keep your subscribers intrigued and make then interested to hear more from you. You must have your own 'cult' group of followers that love what you say and respect what you teach.

Here are 3 tips to writing powerful emails that build relationships and sell at the same time


Writing a good subject line

Every email needs a good subject line. Simply because it is the first thing a person looks at when you receive a mail in your inbox. The subject line determines whether a person reads the email or simply deletes it.

Spend more time on this to make your subject line more interesting. An example for the dating niche would be "I'll pick you up at 8?"

This subject line got a 70% open rate. Why? Curiosity made people want to know more about the contents of the email.

Therefore try to inject words that incite excitement, drama, intrigue and the fear of loss factor into your subject title and get a better open rate.

WIIFM factor

WIIFM stands for "What's In It For Me"

Your emails should address this factor and you have to answer it fast! People want to know what they can benefit from the product you are selling. Whether it can help them solve their problems, achieve their goals, feel more confident etc. You only have a few sentences to grab the attention of your subscriber before they send your email to the trash folder.

It is easy to become obsessed with yourself when you are writing your emails going on and on about your life changing experiences but keep in mind that your list is not just about your 'fans' wanting to know more about you, they are your potential customers.

Keep the correct tone

When it comes to email marketing, remember to use the correct 'tone' when talking to your subscribers. I would suggest using a friendly but business like tone, you do now want your emails to sound too formal or too casual.

Never hard-sell in your emails, people get annoyed reading through an email where every few sentences you have the word 'buy' asking them to click on the link.

These are some of the few tips that I use and have worked well for me. Remember, your follow up emails can make or break your list. So put some effort into it.
