Major Causes of Relationship Breakups and What You Can Do About Them

When a boyfriend and girlfriend first fall in love, the idea that they will break up is usually the furthest thing from their minds. At this time, the hormones of attraction are raging in their minds. They are infatuated with each other and they do not see what could ever set them apart.

As time goes on, however, things happen and break ups occur. Indeed, it is very unlikely that you will go through the dating game (if you are really seriously involved in it), without ever having to live through a break up. The best you can do then is to understand what typically makes a boyfriend and girlfriend break up and what you can possibly do about it.

One major cause of romantic relationship break ups is what is referred to as simply "falling out of love." This has to be differentiated from getting bored with each other, which is also a major cause of break ups. "Falling out of love" is usually a more fundamental issue of hormones; where at a very fundamental level, you simply no longer have any feelings for the other person. What you can do about this is to understand the workings of love hormones. You should know that these hormones which are natures way of hooking people together usually only flow for a short while causing infatuation between the parties in a relationship. You are supposed to take advantage of that period when the hormones are flowing and causing infatuation in you to build a deep relationship that will be able to stand on its own when the hormones are no longer flowing. Of course, this is something you should only do if the other person comes across as a person with whom you should build such an enduring relationship.

The second major thing that can make a boyfriend and girlfriend break up is, as alluded to earlier, is boredom with each other. Sometimes it takes place even during the infatuation stage as you soon realize that the other person is in fact not as "exciting" as you first thought them to be. It could also be the other party soon realizing that you are "not as exciting" as they initially thought you would were. What you can do about this, at least on your part is to ensure that you remain "relevant" and somewhat "mysterious". Someone once said that the secret to being a bore is to "tell it all." You should therefore aim to remain a court - able person throughout.

The third major thing that can make a boyfriend and girlfriend break up is what can simply be referred to as immaturity. Here we are looking at the whole range of things associated with break ups from finances, to communication issues, to infidelity issues and so on. They masquerade in many forms but they are usually ultimately traceable to immaturity in either or both parties to the relationship. These are best tackled on an issue by issue basis. Keys to avoiding them include being mature and responsible as a person. Romantic relationships are not for the immature. Avoiding them is also about subscribing to the golden rule and "doing unto others as you would have them do onto you".
