Perfumes and fragrances have been around for centuries, and have been actively used by ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians. Nevertheless, be careful of the type of cologne that you choose to wear, because colognes are people-conscious. Certain types of colognes only match certain types of people, thus choose the wrong cologne, and people would probably still avoid you. Be particular and selective when you choose the right cologne for yourself. For this purpose, you could start by listing down scents that attract you, such as floral, spices, fruits, leaves or wood. The more specific you are, the better it would be as it would make your final choice easier. For instance, if you like how jasmines smell, or are attracted by the roses scent, list them down. Next list down all the scents that you cannot stand, or least attracted too. The more details jotted down here, the easier it would be to choose the right cologne for you. If you have interest in any particular cologne maker, this would be even better. You could list this down as well to trim down your choices even further. Look at the current portfolio of fragrances that you possess, if you see a particular trend towards any particular type of brand or scent, this would help you decide too. If you have no clue of what would suit you, make a trip to the nearest fragrance store or perfumery in town where there is a large collection of fragrances and a helpful representative that could help you choose exactly the right scent for you. The representative would pose a few questions to check on your personality, and come up with a few choices for you to choose from. Take time with each cologne, as they have three different scents contained in each of them. The first is a sharp and fresh scent that grabs your attention. After a while, the second scent materializes (about ten minutes after the initial scent), and the third scent (the base note) appears after the second scent evaporates, and is subtle and richer than the previous two scents. Take note to wait and experience all three for each cologne that you look at, thus you might end up spending a few hours at the fragrance store.
