Samsung's shipments of the own-brand smart phones in the third quarter are 27.3 million units, an increase of 252%, accounting for 23% of the smart phone market. In addition, Samsung's rise in the U.S. market makes Apple ranks in the third place. In the third quarter, Samsung's own brand of smart phones shipped 4.9 million units in the United States, while Apple's shipments were only 4.6 million units.

In the third quarter, RIM is still in a difficult situation. Its sales fell 58% in the U.S. market. Its market share declined from 24% in the third quarter of 2010 all the way down to the current 9%.
