Hypnosis For Stress Relief
Hypnosis is a brilliant tool for dealing with stress.
Hypnotherapists are well used to clients referring themselves for help in dealing with stress. What the client actually means is the negative affects of stress. It is here that hypnosis can be a wonderful therapeutic too, for assistance in dealing with the concerns and issues of life.
It is important to note that stress actually refers to tension. Tension by itself is actually neither good nor bad - it is in fact a neutral condition. However, the experience of the average client seeking help from a hypnotherapist will include headaches, fear, worry, racing heartbeat, tension, etc.
How then can hypnotherapy actually help with stress?
* It promotes a relaxed state
These are all indicators that contrast with what we know as a relaxed state. Because hypnosis is so affective in creating a relaxed state, it is particularly useful in assisting with the management of negative stress.
When in a hypnotic state, you can be given cues to promote this relaxed response in other areas of your daily life. You can then return to these cues when facing a challenging situation and have a much more relaxed response
* It offers an opportunity to reframe our stress response
When encountering a stressful situation, many people think of the worst-case scenario. This in turn causes them even more stress. It is a vicious circle and one that can cause even more entrenched and habitual responses.
As an example your boss asks to see you first thing in the morning to review an important project you have been working on.
You begin to worry and feel sure that your performance will be criticised that you may even be fired. Thoughts begin to race through your mind, each one increasing in negative intensity.
Hypnosis affords the opportunity to review this type of response from a more relaxed and realistic perspective.
It also allows you to access the creative part of your mind so that you have a greater flexibility of choice as to how you respond.
It can even help you to reframe your response so that in some circumstances you no longer view the situation as stressful, but as challenging and exciting
* Access Your Inner Resources & Potential
Hypnosis allows us to have greater access to the 'genius' that lies in all of us.
We can use our imagination to access memories of when we used our resources successfully in the past and then use these as a foundation for a more empowering positive response in future to challenging situations.
As well as this, we can imagine how one of our heroes or models (Nelson Mandela, President Obama, Richard Branson, perhaps) would approach a situation and then imagine ourselves borrowing their abilities to assist in our challenge.
Once you begin to feel you have choices it becomes easier to adapt your thinking and behaviour.
Hypnosis can assist greatly in the management of negative stress, so do read more on what it has to offer. It is an exciting resourceful tool that can be great fun to use, so take time to find out more of what it can do for you.
