I've been writing about the iPhone clones for over a year. I've reviewed a lot of them and therefore note their user satisfaction and popularity. For quite a while, the P168 was the stand out best seller. Then, the quad band upgraded version of this (aka the Plus) started to gain ground. However, eventually, the manufacturer upgraded this initial upgrade with the Sci Phone i68 and then the i9. (The i68 has been upgraded once more to include new firmware and the menu or flow touch feature.) Today, the new i68 and the i9 have become the standouts. This is because both of these included what many feel are the best combined features of the clones. I will go into their features more in this article, more specifically about the i9, which is probably today's best selling clone / replica.

The i9 And The Java Upgrade: If there was one complaint that I used to hear about the 168, it was that you were severely limited as to third party downloads. The original iClones did not include Java, which limited their use. The SciPhone and the i9 now include this, which is probably one of the biggest reasons for their popularity. Obviously, this greatly increases your productivity potential away from the office (using Outlook, MSN, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, etc.) but this also allows for some pretty awesome gaming downloads if this is important to you.

Shake Or Wave Control Is Included: The original clones (P168 and it's plus model) did not include what is sometimes called "shake or swing to the music." You probably already know this, but this feature allows you to change music, video, MP3s and MP4s without having to look down or scroll. You just shake the phone (or tilt it, if you're dealing with video) instead. Models like the A88 and the A380i made this feature much sought after. I suspect that the manufacturers were not sure if this feature would catch on. Not every one likes it (some consider it quirky) but most do. Both the 9 and the 68 include this one.

Much More Memory And More Bands (MHZ): The original knock offs would expand to 2GB of memory. The CECT 9 and the 68 can expand to hold up to 8GB. This will not be important to everyone, but if you download a lot of information, music, movies, etc. or save a lot of documents or information, this will come into play eventually, especially if speed is important to you.

Additionally, these phones are quad band. Now, not every one is going to need a quad band version. Many popular GSM carriers work just fine with a tri band, but having that one extra band included pretty much much covers all GSM networks.

The Menu Flow Touch Control: (True i 9s Have Always Had It. To Get It On The SciPhone, You'll Need The Newer Model): Again, I'm sure you know that this is the feature made popular by the iPhone which allows you to scroll through, advance, crop and edit using just your fingers. True i9s has always had this included. If you're looking for a Sci Phone with this feature, you'll need to make sure it is the new model. It should specify this in the description of the phone.

Dual Sims, With Both Being Active (Or Online) At Once: If there's one place where the 9 stands out, it's this. It has what is sometimes called "dual sim active" - although some sellers will call this "standby" too). This means that both cards can be online at one time without having to switch back and forth. In previous models, there was sometimes what was called a spare sim or a B / secondary standby. You don't have that scenario here.

Cost: Another popular feature of this phone is it's price. It is usually not much over $100 (if it is at all.) This puts it on par with the 168 in it's hey day - which is not bad at all considering that this is a serious upgrade from that first model.
