IPhone Guide 1 - What You Need to Use Your New iPhone and Operate It Successfully

This iphone user guide is adaptable to all iphone devices and includes the basics for anyone having trouble setting up their iphone. In this first step we will look at how to get started using your iphone. You will first need the following hardware and services:

A wireless service carrier that provides iphone service in your area

A Mac or PC with a USB 2.0 port connection and either Mac OS X v10.5.8+ or Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP Home or Professional

Screen resolution on your computer set to 1024 x 768 or higher

iTunes 10.1.2 or later

QuickTime 7.6.2 or later, utilising the playing of videos on your computer

An Apple ID for purchases from iTunes or the App Store

An internet connection for your computer

Optional an iphone 4 skins, iphone 3gs cases

When opening up your iphone for the first time you will notice the glossy look and feel of the phone, many people now buy iphone 4 skins and iphone 3gs cases to protect their phone in case of damage. These iphone 3gs cases are an important way to protect your iphone, as phones do get damaged and a lot of people do not have insurance as part of their plans.

Your next process will be to install your SIM card. All iphones do not come with the card installed so use the paper clip supplied with the iphone to open up the card tray. This can be located on the side of the iphone 4 or on the top of the iphone 3gs. If you have an iphone 3gs cases then this will need to be removed as will the iphone 4 skins if you have already positioned them.

Here is a quick step guide to installing the SIM Card:

Install the end of the paper clip or SIM eject tool into the hole on the SIM card tray. Put it in straight and firmly into the hole until the tray pops out

Pull out the SIM card tray and place the SIM card into the tray

With the SIM card tray aligned and the SIM card in the slot carefully replace the tray

Once the SIM Card is correctly installed and your network provides a service you can move onto the next step, which is to successfully install the software onto your iphone via iTunes, this is explained in the next article.
