If I have a traditional business do I need a website? The answer is yes, 90% of people in a recent survey said they use search engines to find local businesses, that's a lot of business to miss out on! I don't know if your like me but if I'm looking for a place to get something online, even if I'm planning on going to the store I still pick the one with the nicest website or the only one with a website. In the case that there is no website at all, I just pick at random if I can't get any information about the business.

Websites are very important to traditional businesses, I'm sure you went out and got business cards or some other sales materials for your business. A website is even more important because you don't have to hand it out to people, they will find it when they are looking for what you offer. With 90% of people looking on the internet, it is in your businesses best interest to have a professional website waiting for them.

I want to stress the importance of a professional website, having a bad website is almost is bad as not having a website. When people look at your site they are evaluating your business just as if they had walked into a store. If the website looks like it was cheaply made or done with some step by step program, then people will think this is a small cheap business. If the website doesn't function, has grammatical errors, layout problems, or any other problems people will think that this business doesn't do a very good job with stuff. How I could expect a business to provide me with a good product or service if they can't even make sure their website works right.

The facts are people don't use the yellow pages anymore, they use the internet it's even on their phones, so if they want to find a business, a product or service they use the internet. If you do not have a professional website and a good web presence you will miss out on that business.

Now let's talk about cost because I know that is the number one thing that prevents small business owners from getting a site. I hear it all the time and I always get people that would rather pay $20 to do a step by step website building program instead of spending the money. If you work with a professional web developer, you will make the money back and then some in a couple short months. If you use a website building tool and put whatever it throw up after you put in some information, you will more than likely think the internet is a waste of time and money.

So hire a professional, find a good web developer that can build your site and market it as well. If you do that you will see a nice ROI return on investment and that is what business is about.
