A medium and a big organization can survive in case change management goes astray but a small business will be doomed in case the change management does not work properly.

An organization is required to address the issue of change on account of many factors. Primarily these factors can be divided in to two parts, external or internal. External factors comprises of business environment, political changes etc. whereas in case of changes caused by internal factors the change agents can be sales development, new product development, new market development business reorganization, acquisitions and mergers, restructuring and IT related changes. Fast changing business environments require organizations to reorganize, look for alternatives and keep pace with market dynamics. Organizations, if they have to grow then their change management juggernaut have to move a step ahead. Otherwise, organization will not be able to sense opportunities.

* It is well accepted that people resist change. More hardworking and devoted a person has been, more resistance to change he will be offering. So it becomes imperative for managements to involve and make employees understand the necessity for going in for change. There will probably be less resistant from the employees who are on the fringes. But this should not guide organizations from participating in the change management process. Open brain storming sessions, workshops may be organized and the employees are made part of the change management process.

* Planning is the most important part of any change management process. It can make or mar the total change management process. Therefore careful considerations are given to every aspect of planning process.

* People should be encouraged to define their own objectives.
* Putting right men at right place. Selecting a balanced team is as important to change management process as the process itself. An uninspired team can even scuttle the total change process. So people who have been given the responsibility to bring about the change must be selected carefully.
* Define and put in place stages as milestones. Achieving these targets will boost the confidence of the team.
* To maintain the tempo, keep the pressure on working teams so that the sight of ultimate target is not forgotten
* Once the changes have been brought about, spread awareness and make these changes permanent.

With strong emphasis being laid on global warming, the regulatory authorities decide one fine day to ban use of any raw material which is not environment friendly. The concern for environmental causes and the related global warming has been there for pretty long time now. An intelligent organization would have expected this and would have made their plan ready to move the other areas which are based on environment friendly material only. The foresight not only helped the organization in surviving but also helped them as they became pioneers to use the new technologies and were first off the blocks.
