Improve Credit Report: 10 Things You Must Do Starting Today!

Why the need to improve credit reports is more pressing now than ever before

? Its simple, because lenders will not give you credit of any kind if your reports dont live up to their expectations.

Lenders will see you as a gamble and someone they cannot trust to repay their loan and they will avoid you like the plague. In an age where credit is very important, you dont really want that!

So pay real close attention to the things listed below that you can do starting right now to improve your credit report:

1 Obtain all 3 copies of your free credit reports ASAP! Doing this will help give you control and peace of mind by ensuring that you know whats in your report so that you dont let it slip.

2 Go through all 3 free reports thoroughly. You are basically looking to see if there is anything on your report which should not be there. Should you find any mistakes, you must let the bureau know about these mistakes asap and ask them to correct it. It doesn't take much to lower your credit score. Even one discrepancy will do it.

3 Make absolutely certain that all your 3 reports have exactly the same information on them. Credit card companies dont always update all three credit bureaus. Credit monitoring agencies will be checking all three of your reports to make sure they match, if not, your credit score will be lowered.

4 Contact your creditors! Look at your debt carefully. Contrary to popular belief, your creditors are not monster. They would love to hear from you and more like, want to help you pay off your debt. So get in touch with them. Most will understand and as long as youre happy to pay off the debt (tell them this!) theyll work with you.

Decide (together with your debtors) how you will repay. Most creditors will be more than happy to work out a payment plan with you as they want their money back (but only what you can afford).

6 Pay the debt off! If possible, please pay the debt in full. Your credit score will benefit greatly from this. It will show creditors that you are responsible. So, just do what you agreed with your creditors and get the debt paid.

All the bills you have need to be paid on time! Bills paid on time is something that will show up in your report, so pay them off early.

8 Cut up your cards. Having your cards there will cause you to spend even though you've paid the off. Use cash when you need to spend.

9 No more credit, please. It's really in your best interest not to apply for any more loans or credit cards. Pay off what you owe first and dont dig a deeper whole for yourself.

10 Keep some accounts open! Even though youve paid off your debts and cut up some cards, you need to leave some of these accounts open even if you wont use them again. For some reason, creditors like to see an open account with no money owed, than a closed account. So keep some, even just one, open.
