Getting older is no cake walk for anyone. Time takes it's toll and inevitably your body will fail you in some ways. Many people have made statements about the connection between being a baby and eventually growing back into needing the attendance and assistance of others to get around and in some cases to deal with bathroom issues. Of course the difference is for many of these older folks the body's decline is not accompanied by a mental decline of any sort. For these people there is a fine line between the help of loved ones and the need for a sense of self that maintains a connection to the normalcy that was only very recently a part of their lives. Walking that fine line requires care, patience and a strong bond of communication between the aging person in question and all of the loved ones and caretakers involved in their day-to-day life.

Luckily there are a lot of incontinence products that can be incredibly helpful at maintaining normalcy and dignity in the face of the body's decline. While some might think of adult diapers and disposable briefs negatively, for a person struggling with incontinence it can be a saving grace. The first few times incontinence rears it's ugly head you are never really prepared for it and the embarrassment of having to go deal with that sort of an emergency can be a nearly traumatic event. With the new security of adult protective underwear they are once again free to move around without the fear of suffering through an indignity like the one they went through previously. Suddenly they are free to move well away from their restroom facilities and back into some of their previous activities.

These people are not the reemerging children some would like to suggest they are amazing vessels of a wealth of history. They have seen more than we might ever be able to imagine having seen. We are never going to watch as much history rise and fall as they have. We can only hope to be as engaged in our lives as they were. They deserve all the time in the world to shine and share their lives with us and incontinence will not stop them from doing so anymore.
