Environmental and physical properties

Types of metectSil silicone rubber seals and gaskets

Silicone Engineering produces three detection strengths of solid metectSil:

- Standard metectSilST

- Premium metectSil XP

- Super metectSil XS

Silicone Engineering produces can also produce it in sponge form as - metectSilSP.

The three forms of solid metectSil (ST, XP and XS) are typically used in silicone rubber seals and gaskets.

All three are tested to and comply with the requirements of the U.S.

Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation 21CFR177.2600 for rubber articles in repeated contact with food, and EC1935/2004 for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food.

Industry Testing

Testing of the three forms of metectSil was conducted using the MET30+ Universal metal detector manufactured by Lock Inspection Systems Ltd.

Lock detectors are widely used within the food processing industry.

Tests were conducted using a 10mm long x 5mm wide x 3mm high piece of each type of metectSil.

All three grades of metectSil have been tested extensively and the results were outstanding. Test results are available upon request.

Silicone rubber gaskets

This is an extensive range of silicone rubber seals, gaskets, washers and sleeves.

Using innovative cutting and jointing equipment, silicone rubber seals and gaskets can be produced in both solid and sponge, punched or water-jet cut from a variety of silicone sheet materials produced on site.

Vulcanised jointed silicone rubber gaskets, from profiles and section, can also be manufactured.

Washers can be punched from a silicone sheet using a high volume-punching machine or, alternatively, parted off from silicone tubing.

Either way, excellent tolerances can be achieved across a range of the silicone gaskets.

Silicone sleeves are produced using automated precision cutting machines to ensure excellent tolerance bands are maintained for both small and high volume orders.
