, whether that is sixth form or university or even an open university course then it is quite probable that you will need to utilise or purchase some form of reference books to help you to study the important topics that you will be faced with on your subject.
You will probably be told from your tutor exactly what type of text or reference books that you should go after. The tutor has normal assigned a set of specific titles which they feel would be beneficial to you before you even attend class for your first day. Of course some of the budget for these books should be covered by the grants that you have been authorised with, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't look around for the best deal you can get when looking for new material.
Obviously different shops and different companies have different margins on what they can sell these books for and so you have to watch out on how much of your budget that you are planning on spending on purchasing reference books.
Of course, you could be extremely clever and attempt to purchase you book from someone who is trying to sell their copy. Now that the age of the internet is in full swing, there are a number of auction sites that allow people to buy, sell and trade products that they no longer need or use.
Obviously if you do decide to head down this route when it comes to purchasing your new reference books material for the new term then there are a number of pitfalls that you should try to avoid. Sometimes manufacturers change the contents of the textbooks and release new version of the books as the world continues to develop and the course material changes. Always make sure you understand what edition of the book you are purchasing and what differences there will be between that version and the latest edition.
Another option is to speak to the teacher of the class. Sometimes the sixth forms or universities order the books in bulk and then pass these discounts on to the students. If you teacher hasn't thought about doing that then maybe it might be worth mentioning it to them.
Wherever you purchase you reference books from in 2010, make sure that you put the effort in and study hard. The hard work that you put in now will pay off in the long run.
