Infrared Grills - Tips On How To Improve Your Cooking And Enjoyment

A grill is a familiar site in many backyards across the country

. Some of the types you may find are charcoal, gas or fire pits. One type that may be seen more frequently are the infrared grills. They have been around since the early eighties but are gaining more popularity recently.

You may wonder what makes this grill different from others. These grills use infrared technology to cook the food. One misconception is that these grills will not use a flame. You will still need either propane or some sort of natural gas to start the heating process. After lighting the gas, it will then heat up a ceramic tile that is placed in the bottom of the grill.

Traditional grills cook through either convection or conduction heating. Basically, they will use hot air to cook the food. One problem with this is that the food does not cook evenly. With the infrared grill, it cooks with radiation.

Getting the ceramic tile heated up will take some time. Be aware that this grill will get much hotter, much faster than your traditional grill does. Using radiation to cook your food means that it will cook more evenly. This grill will also cut your actual cooking time in half.

There is still much speculation on whether cooking with radiation is safe. Many people did not want the microwave when it first came out but now microwaves are everywhere. No one is really sure what the side effects, if any, are of cooking with this method. Whether it is safe for you to cook your food with this type is solely one of a personal opinion.

Another benefit to cooking with this type of grill is you can use it in any weather conditions. Normally rain, wind, or cold temperatures can adversely affect your cooking process. This is not an issue with the infrared grill. Cooking with charcoal or gas grills can have flareups. When something falls into the infrared grill it is vaporized, thus cutting down on the flareup problem. You can monitor this grill from a further distance than other grills. Reducing the flareups also means this is safer for anyone who may be around your grill at the time of cooking.

A grill is a great, healthy way to prepare your meat and other foods. Although some grills are only used during the summer, you can use the infrared year round. Research the type of grills available before buying. Talk with your families to make sure which type will work best for you.
