Make sure that you keep the lawn up. Water it, mow it, and make sure that there aren't any bare areas just hanging out in random places. People don't like to see those things. Next, it might be a good idea to plant some flowers. People like to see that the area looks friendly and nice. Power wash the outside of your home if it's dirty and make sure that the front door gets a new coat of paint if it needs it.

Inside. The inside of your house is just as important, as it is the closing deal. People like the outside, but they have to love the inside if they are going to make an offer. You want to make sure that all of the floors are done perfectly. Carpets are the number one most important thing to worry about. People might overlook some cracked tile or other floors, but a dirty carpet will not do. Fix it or replace it if necessary.
