Laptop computers used to be the best portable computer device

, but with the introduction of the iPad, more and more people are starting to shift to the tablet as their main choice of portable computer. Tablets are small mobile computers that are shaped like a tablet, hence the name, which comes in varying sizes. They are very portable and often have a screen that big enough to accommodate the needs of most users.

Tablets are actually older than people think, however back then, tablets were not seen as well as they are today. Back then tablets used to be of a lower quality and their form factor proved to be cumbersome or unattractive for the general market. Time passes by and the computer giant Apple and Steve Jobs introduced the iPad. It was not until this gadget got released did people start to actually consider using tablets.

It could be said that Steve Jobs 9.56x7.47 inch brain child heralded the massive adoption of the tablet device by the general public. One of its main appeals of course, was that it was made by the marketing and advertising computer giant Apple. There are a lot of pundits who think that Apples trendy products are overrated and overpriced. Notwithstanding, none of them argue that the devices manufactured by Apple are attractive, made of a high quality, and stable. Their main problem, more often than not, are Apples restrictive terms of use and the Apple operating systems incompatibility with a lot of third party programs.

Despite all the criticisms by tech experts, Apples new tablet was warmly received by the public. The target demographic of tablets is basically a person who wants something thats a go between a smartphone and a laptop. Due to the tablets form factor; it does not possess a physical input device like a keyboard or a mouse. Instead, this attractive gadget requires its users to simply use the touch screen in order to navigate and use the tablet.

Contrary to popular belief though, Apples latest trendy gadget was not their first tablet, which was actually the Newton MessagePad 100. The MessagePad first came out in 1993 under Apples Newton platform. The problem with Apples old tablets, the MessagePad and MessagePad 100, were that they were severely limited by their laughable power source which was a bunch of AAA batteries. This inefficient power source was perhaps one of the main reasons why Apples first foray into the tablet market did not succeed.

Despite their failure in the past, Apples latest tablet has taken the world by storm. Nowadays, its hard to find some trendy hipster teenager or some business professional who does not use a tablet computer. More often than not, the people who use tablets make use of Apples product. And its really not hard to see why.
