No doubt you have doubts about affiliate marketing
. I sure did. Everything I read about it made me skeptical. I downloaded a bunch of fr*ee stuff and sometimes it made senseand sometimes it didn't.
And I'm embarrassed to tell you how much I spent on GURU Garbage.
Yesyou can make money working on the Internet. I have but it seemed like it would take forever. My dream was to retire from my day job and just make a comfortable living. Suresome of those guys and gals are making really big bucks. But I had to look at the reality of it. I'm just an ordinary working stiff and I have been at it for over 40 years. To me the term "computer savvy" was in a foreign language.
Is this the best home-based business?
Most of what I read said that affiliate marketing is the best way to begin a home-based business. Well it took some convincing for me to buy that idea. Yes, hundreds of millions of people are searching for answers on the Internet every day, and Billions of dollars are spent on getting those answers.
The Gurus say that, "The money is in the list." Well most people, me included, hate being spammed by e-mails that fill my inbox 24/7. So, I don't have a listyet. They also say you need a website, so I caved in to that stipulation and got one.
Living paycheck to paycheck
Look, I was living from paycheck to paycheck. All too frequently my wife would call me at work and say, "Don't use the card until Friday, I just paid the mortgage." I'll bet you've been in that leaky boat a few times too.
I got my first sale of an e-book after nearly four months of struggling to discover "The Secret." It must have been a fluke and I didn't find any secret. Months went by before I had another sale. Actually I had two on the same day, but then the well went dry again.
Can affiliate marketing be done for free?
They say that affiliate marketing can be done for fr*ee. That's just plain BULL %#@&. There are costs if you really want to accomplish anything.
I vowed to stop buying the crap that was offered to me around the clock, but I still weakened a couple of times. Now what I'm doing is unsubscribing to one e-mail after another. But I did see a glimmer of light and it wasn't on a shiny website filled with bells and whistles. It was on a website put up by a Georgia mom and grandmom.
