Is Pepper Spray A Good Self-defense Option?

Pepper Spray, also sometimes called OC Spray or Defense Spray

, is a derivative of the cayenne pepper and is considered to be a non-lethal form of self defense as it temporarily causes tearing, blindness, coughing and general discomfort for an assailant.

There are many ways we can protect ourselves. The question you should ask yourself is- should I use a lethal form of self defense like a gun and if not, what other non-lethal options are out there for me?

Many people do not like the idea of using a gun due to the license requirements and the potential harm it may cause. In these cases, a non-lethal form of protection is needed and pepper spray may be the best option.

To buy a basic package of defense spray, a keychain and a 2,3, or 4 ounce canister will run in the $30 range, which is very reasonable compared to other forms of protection which may run into the hundreds of dollars.

4.Ease of Purchasing "" pepper spray can generally be purchased in a gun store, hardware stores as more recently online. We always recommend online as the pepper spray selection you will have will far outweigh the 2-3 models that a hardware or gun store may carry.

5.Non-Lethal Nature "" OC spray, by definition is "less than lethal" as it causes only temporary effects to assailants. Usually, its effects last between 45 minutes and 1 hour. You can feel good that you are not causing any lasting damage to another person.

Keychains are great for women and those that walk in the neighborhood, ride their bikes and frequently go to/from their car. Two, Three and Four ounce canisters are excellent for keeping in the car, carrying with you (preferably in a holster) as well as for home defense.

7.Effectiveness "" the most important reason that we believe pepper spray is a great option for self defense is its effectiveness. Quite simply, it plain works. A single discharge of a good brand such as Fox Labs will incapacitate the attacker almost instantly and allow the victim to get away and call the police.
