Is Proper Exercise Even On Your Priority List?

As our modern world seems to get busier, most of us keep trying to fit more into each day

, and many times proper exercise gets cut out because it takes up 'too much time'. As a result, our strength and fitness suffers (along with our waistline) and a variety of health problems loom down the road because bad decisions made earlier in life tend to stretch into lifelong habits.

We are creatures of habit and our habits are the things we do on a daily basis, much of the time without thinking about them. Most of the time we do what is familiar and convenient because we believe it is easier for us to stick with what we know. The reason we do not do what we need to do (like exercising) is simple. We have made a habit of not doing it.

Yet exercise helps us become saner, happier and healthier and it is often not until it is too late that the wrong decisions, made because of our attitude towards our strength, fitness and ultimately our health determine the quality of life we are left with.

If a friend or family member who was unhappy, unhealthy or overweight came to you for guidance but you were allowed to give them only one word of advice the very best thing you could say to them is: Exercise - and do it regularly.

If we are currently not exercising we need to look closely at our attitude towards our own health and ask ourselves the questions we would ask others if we were giving them that same advice. Not likely is it? Yet we make decisions like this every single day that we will pay dearly for in the future.

Many people believe that they are active enough even when they do no intentional exercise to keep their muscles strong and healthy. The state of your muscular system determines your level of health as a healthy metabolism is dependent upon strong toned muscles to burn up sugars and fats in the blood. If they are not burnt up for energy they remain in the blood stream and end up in places they should not be causing damage to tissues and organs.

It is well known that exercise results in many physical benefits, improved strength and stamina, weight loss, less stress, reduced risk of disease and improvement in the operating efficiency of various body parts. Spending 2-3 sessions each week on your exercise program that contains mostly strength training exercise is one of the most important things you can do for a healthy mind and body.

It affects how you feel, how you look and how you function physically, mentally and emotionally and contributes to a higher quality of life. Use it as a tool for getting the most out of life and make it part of your quest for better health. It is never too late to start and the sooner you start the sooner you can reap the benefits.
