Is The Collapse Of North Korea Imminent?

This is the question that the rest of the free world wonders

. It is certainly possible that North Korea will collapse but it seems unlikely by most accounts. They have wrecked their economy to the point that many of their citizens are starving but it seems that they always find a way to hold out and survive. One of the reasons that there is so much conflict with the rest of the world is that North Korea wants to receive financial aid as a type of hush money. You can rest assured that whenever they stir up a mess this is the goal.

The risk of their collapse has been high and seems to be getting higher. I believe that there are steps that the United States can take to hasten their economic demise. I also believe that we have covertly done some things but if more pressure were added it would certainly make life infinitely harder for the North Korean government.

Other nations consider this possibility in their war planning and the Chinese have been approached about plans but they refuse to consider or act on the consideration that this would be an eventuality.

The changeover seems to be going well for the North Koreans. There have been no confrontations or obvious military movements or conflicts that intelligence has picked up. This is an excellent indication of the way that things are going there.

China, the United States and other regional powers around the peninsula may face a number of daunting scenarios if the transition goes badly over the medium term. These could include civil conflict, a mass exodus of refugees, military mutiny, lost control of the North's small nuclear arsenal or military attack.

The Chinese position on the reunification of the two Koreas seems to be neutral. They dont seem to mind if the countries were reunified under South Korean control as long as the United States doesnt have undue influence on the Korean Peninsula.

They have stated that they would not militarily intervene in the event of a North Korea collapse, which they expect to happen within the next two to three years.

These alleged remarks from several Chinese diplomats do not represent China's official position on North Korea. But China's ability to influence North Korea is sometimes over-estimated. In April 2009, He Yafei, then China's vice foreign minister, told a U.S. diplomat in Beijing that North Korea acted like a "spoiled child" to attract U.S. attention through steps such as firing a three-stage rocket over Japan.

The official line from Beijing, repeated during a visit by Kim Jong-il to China in May, is that the relationship remains "sealed in blood" of the allies that fought together in the Korean War.

The South Korean Government is holding out and hoping for a peaceful reunification of the two countries. The world waited to see the response from the new North Korean government which seems to be the same so far. I have seen the plight of North Korea for some time now and it seems that their situation is bleak; however they seem to always find a way to overcome and survive. Military Ring Express
