Is it difficult learning a new language?

Is it difficult learning a new language?

Everyday I see people struggling with learning a new language, not only that, but they spend a lot time and money finding easy ways to learn a new language because they need it for work or study purposes.

Being a polyglot myself I've often heard the phrases "oh, but of course it's easy for YOU, you've got the talent for it" or "we're different, I'm just not good with words" (the last one always strikes me as interesting as those people are already using words to tell me that) But anyway, after my years of training and learning I've realized IT'S JUST NOT TRUE!

If I compare myself to all those people who say, "I want to learn but I'm not good with languages," there are only two differences. (And they're truly the most important)

1. - I REALLY love languages, and 2. - I don't put any obstacles in my mind when I'm taking a new language.

You may argue, "but I really like them" and I must reply, "that's just the problem"; someone who is passionate about something would act on it and sooner rather than later will succeed. Someone who just "likes" it, will easily find excuses for not doing it, mainly "I'm terrible at languages". These people subconsciously are going "It be cool if I could speak that language, but I'm not that interested to go through the whole process of actually learning it"

Which takes us to my next point, the moment we tell ourselves that we're unable to do something; anything, we're conditioning our minds and thus making it impossible for us to achieve. Let's remember that if it were truly difficult to learn a new language, few people would do so; it is all in our heads.

Open your mind to that new language you're so crazy about learning and NEVER tell yourself it is TOO difficult.
