It City Bhubaneswar Brings More Investment Oppertunity In Odisha
Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Odisha has today emerged as the fastest growing IT hub in the entire eastern India
. The pride of Odisha and the envy of neighbouring states, Bhubaneswar besides being extremely well-connected at the focal point of the Howrah-Chennai highway, also has a fairly decent infrastructure.
According to reports of Dataquest Issue of 2009, Bhubaneswar is the 2nd best offshore IT destination of world, World Bank report of 2000 reports Bhubaneswar as the 3rd most suitable city to start a IT business. Bhubaneswar is also reported as the most safest and economical state capital of the country.
There are several reasons as to why Bhubaneswar is scripting a success story in the IT sector. The Odisha Government has played a vital role in furthering the IT growth in the city by building IT parks such as Infocity 1 and the new Infocity 2. The Info City was conceptualized as a 5-star IT park, as per the Export Promotion Industrial Parks (EPIP) Scheme.
Bhubaneshwar also houses reputed IT companies such as Satyam Computer Services Ltd., and Infosys, which have been in Bhubaneshwar since 1996-97. In February 2008, another esteemed company, Wipro, started its operation in Bhubaneshwar. This state has also earned an extraordinary distinction of being the first city to accommodate the top four Indian IT companies, namely Infosys, TCS, Mahindra Satyam and Wipro. In addition, it has also attracted foreign companies such as Nethawk (Finnish Telecommunication Company), IBM, Robert Bosch and Gennum Corporation (Canada).
The other factors include the development of
IT City Bhubaneswar as a educational hotspot. The high and easy availability of talent and diverse nature of talent from the many engineering colleges in Bhubaneswar and the presence of top-notch institutions like the NISER, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and KIIT have all translated into greater investment in IT growth. This apart a Central University along the lines of JNU and Osmania University and a World Class University like a Stanford University or a Harvard are also in the pipeline.
This apart, the Vision 2030 and Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) framed by the Department of Architecture and Regional Planning at IIT Kharagpur, ideates integration of two big cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar into a single 720 sq. Km Urban Complex. This Vision 2030 aims at transforming Cuttack and Bhubaneshwar into a world-class urban centre to create attractive investment opportunities from both, domestic and overseas sources.
The Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP) strives to create textile parks and prime urban centres in the Bhubaneswar - Cuttack Urban Complex. It also envisages promoting intra-regional mass transportation networks through better airway and railway connections. It also aims at promoting tourism through film city projects, theme parks and travel circuits such as art villages, nature trails and Palace-on-Wheels.
