My mother-in-law called my wife and asked her to have me take a look at Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing which she said was an MLM company
. She wanted my opinion because someone had presented this to her as a online home business opportunity and she was considering joining it.
I did what I always do and went to Direct Selling News to see if they were ranked on their list of top 100 direct sales companies. I personally was not familiar with this company and was surprised to see that it was in the top 100 with annual sales of over $80 million.
One thing that I did find impressive was the fact that this company was only started in 2001. To me that's pretty impressive growth to climb into the 100 top direct sales companies in the world in a little over 10 years.

My main point is that you can quickly research business opportunities using the Internet. Whether you are looking for something right now on your own, or someone has approached you with an opportunity, you can do some in depth research before you join.
The network marketing business model is a good way to make money if you enjoy working with people. There are many top companies you are probably not familiar with and might even find one that would be perfect for you as you look closer at them.
Of course the old standby companies continue to do well. Avon, Amway, Herbalife, Mary Kay, and Tupperware are still in the top 10. These companies do well because they are established and have a product line that people are comfortable purchasing from.
They also are established worldwide which helps them drive much of their growth. You can join these companies and make excellent money selling products on the retail level. You can also build your own multilevel marketing downline and make money that way.
There's a lot of money to be made joining Internet based MLM companies. These companies sell products that don't require any shipping. Strong Future International and their IAHBE product is a good example of this.
You're probably not going to find them on the top 100 direct selling companies list. However, that doesn't mean there is not a market for what they sell. Often you can find niche MLM companies to join such as My World Plus for example.
One thing that continues to remain true is when you promote Internet based network marketing companies you can be involved in more than one at a time. This is true because you use the Internet to build your business and not rely as much on social networking or direct selling like you might with some of the older established MLM companies.
