Lumbers is a graduate of the Ontario College of Art, born in Toronto in 1929, he travelled to the northern part of Canada to labor an expedition. The encounter changed his life. The same was true for Gordie Howe as I discovered when doing research for his portrait. Their greatness and that of others came through love and devotion for the game."

These stories helped produce the concept of doing a sequence of six collector giclees on behalf of young people and their ambitions of aspiring to one of the original six teams in the NHL and making their respective olympic hockey team; to join teams like Toronto Maple Leafs, Montreal Canadiens, Detroit red Wings, New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks and Canada's olympic hockey team. Lumbers believe that we all must be reminded now and then that things are possible if you put enough energy into something!
