Jeff Usner Shares On Focus And How To Leverage Yourself

Focus and How to Leverage Yourself

Focus and How to Leverage Yourself

When you start a business you will probably be doing everything yourself. Its mainly you taking care of website development, sales, billing, customer support and all of the tasks that need to be done to run a home based internet business.

As soon as you can, get all those things off your plate and focus on the activities that are going to make you the most money in the least amount of time. What you want to do is to create a momentum with that cash flow.

You may have heard of the Pareto principle where you invest 20 of your time to get 80 percent of the results, which is the right way to go about it. The key to your business is to focus on the right activities that are profitable.

There is the legendary story of Ivy Lee, an efficiency expert who gave Charles Schwab, president of Bethlehem Steel, a simple idea that would help make his business much more productive. Lees advice was to make a top 6 list of the activities you need to do during the day and to do them in order or importance. Never go on to number two before you finish number one.

This is a very simple idea but its very good to implement. Whether you have a small business or if you are a CEO of a big company, being productive is critical. At the start of the day, do the first thing on your list right away. Dont check your voice mail, text messages, email, Facebook, Twitter, etc. That is distracting you from the main activity in your day. You need to focus and spend your time on the tasks that will produce the best results first.

Another problem is that if you are doing online advertising, you can easily get overwhelmed by the many different things that you can do. For example, if you want to drive traffic to your website like affiliate networks, media buys, buying email placements or pay per click with Google, Yahoo, MSN, Bing, etc. You can get overwhelmed by all the many different things that you can do.

Instead of trying to do everything that you can to create traffic, you should focus on just one thing and try to become an expert in it. When competing against someone who is trying to do everything, which is what 95 percent of people will try to do, you will knock them out of the water.

The key is to focus in leveraging your activities. You only have so much time in a day and you need to be as productive as you can with the work that you do. Focus on one primary activity and get really good in it. Apply the top 6 to your business everyday and you will see an immediate improvement.
