Karaoke Can Be A Blast
So your friends invited you to do some karaoke singing with them
. What do you do? First, do not assume that you will need to get drunk to sing karaoke or enjoy the amateur singing atmosphere. Your friends probably did not invite you because you sound like Frank Sinatra or because you can dance on a bar table like Michael Jackson. They most likely invited you because they want to get to know you better or feel it would be fun to relax with you in a fun social setting.
Karaoke is not about belting out the next American Idol victory. Neither is it about listening for the next Hollywood rocker. Karaoke is about fun, relaxing, relieving stress, being with friends, laughing and trying something new. The activity is perfect for co-workers that would like to see each another in another light. Sorry, no pun intended. Karaoke has a way of getting people out of their shell and allowing others to see another side of them. So, what should you do? Accept the invite! It will be a blast. Now that you know you are in for a good time, here are a few pointers that will help you make the most of your debut onto the stage of the karaoke club.
Your first time appearance on stage should feature nothing else but your signature tune. What song do you love to sing? What song often finds itself featured in your concerts in the shower? I know you have your groove. It is that song that just seems to come so naturally you often wonder why you do not cover it. Do you know what I am talking about yet? That is your signature song. This is the tune you should stick with for your first time performance. It will allow to perform more naturally, it is the most practiced song in your personal arsenal of music.
Once you are on stage remember that people love confidence. People in the audience often will overlook how you actually can sing if you are a confident performer. Maintain solid posture. Get into it. Try to believe you really are on tour singing your song to millions of people. Sing like you mean it. Do not try to hide behind the microphone and whisper melodies. This is your time to shine, own it. While you are in the audience however, treat the performers with the respect you would like to receive when it is your turn. Enjoy your night out.
