Kata Beach is emerging as a new destination within the plethora of beaches on Phuket Island in Thailand. An example of this is the new 5-star Avista Resort and Spa hotel, which has 143 suites and rooms. Its style is modern yet low-key, providing a comfortable and exclusive feeling for travelers who would like to be near but not in the fray of the beach scenes close by. The atmosphere is exquisite and displays Thai service at its best while also being friendly. The fifth floor boasts Grand Deluxe Rooms which are immaculately clean. They have a separate bathtub and shower as well as a private balcony. The hotel is located on a hillside slightly inland from the beach. It is set right between Kata and Karon beaches. These two beaches on the southwestern side of Phuket merge into each other and are often identified as Kata-Karon Beach.

The area that the hotel is in is pristine and quiet. It is right in the middle of a the headland that separates these two beaches on Lam Sai Road. Nature lovers can get their fill of flora and fauna in and outside the hotel while still being near to banks, restaurants, shopping, etc., in the town areas nearby. This road runs into Pak Bang Road which leads to Kata and Thai Na roads. There is plenty of exploring to do walking along these roads. Along the bay of Kata is the beautiful palm tree lined crescent beach. There is varied nightlife. All kinds of water sports are available around here including surfing between November and April.

The Kata Beach area can be divided into three main sections. There is Kata Yai Beach in the north, Kata Town in the inland central area, and Kata Noi Beach in the south. Kata Yai gets pretty busy in the high season but then drops off drastically in the low sseason. Kata Noi Beach is quieter even during the high season, which makes it a nice place to find some tranquility. The south end of Kata Beach also has hotels with immediate access to the beaches without having to cross any roads. Kata Town has a little shopping and nightlife activity but it is rather quiet compare to other parts of Phuket. Friday night markets make it the best time to go. There is a National Park which surrounds the Kata area making it an ideal place to hike. Fishing, golf, and elephant trekking are also available. Kata Hill offers a spectacular view of a nearby rubber plantation, jungles, and the Andaman Sea. Accommodations in Kata vary from casual to hi-so and everything in between. Kata is the most popular because of the serene atmosphere which ironically attracts more and more visitors every year. However, it is likely that the crowds will never reach anything like that of Patong Beach, so travelers can be assured that Kata Beach will be an idyllic place to relax and bring a romantic date or to take the family along. November through March is the high season and Kata Beach gets busier, so make sure to book a hotel room before arriving.
