It's the time of year when all the training gets put on the back burner and you spend time with family and friends enjoying delicious roast turkeys and eggnog

, but what about your health? Your fitness routine?

For a marathon runner like myself my training never stops, in fact I think I drive my family crazy as I watch everyone open their gifts on Christmas morning, enjoy a family lunch and then later on I go for a run.

It's so easy to forget your training during the holidays, but this is the worst thing you can do, I am not saying train every day, but ensure you keep your fitness levels high, especially now.

Preparing for a Race


What I find is that after the holidays if I don't train throughout I get really sluggish, I've found that Whey protein shakes help with my muscle recovery when I've taken some time to myself.

There are times where my family doesn't allow me to train, so I have to find other ways, the best thing I did was add a mini gym in my home with my treadmill, so when I am not running on the roads I can still get my training in, but chances are you're a step ahead of me on this one.
