Kempinski And Fairmont To Open New Hotels For Luxury Oman Holidays As Part Of Wa

Fairmont and Kempinski will be opening new hotels in the city of Muscat over the

next few years that will help change the citys tourism landscapes.

The two international hotel chains will be providing luxury Oman holidays as part of Wave Muscat, a new upscale integrated resort and residential development.

The Wave Muscat is located on 6km of beachfront and boasts luxury villas, townhouses, residential apartments, high end Oman hotels, a 400-berth marina, restaurants, shops, pristine beaches and a Greg Norman-designed 18-hole golf course.

David Stafford, the Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at The Wave explained that construction for the Kempinski hotel will begin shortly and the property will have several hundred guest rooms and a unique ballroom.

Kempinski is likely to open by early 2015 and it will be the first new five-star hotel in Muscat in the last 20 years. Fairmont will follow a few years later. MoUs for these hotels were signed a few years ago, he said.

The brand new district offers plenty of investment opportunities with over 4,000 properties and hotels that will be available to both residents and high end travellers taking holidays in Oman.

The occupancy levels in hotels in Muscat are very strong and the room rates are reasonable. Moreover, tourism is a major focus area of the government, commented Mr Stafford.

He added that people who invest in a property in an Integrated Tourism Project will also buy into a lifestyle.

Such projects are the future of Oman. More and more young Omanis and empty nest Omanis (elderly ones whose children have left home) are opting for simpler lives where they can live in larger homes and have household staff to cater to their needs. They love a lock it and leave it lifestyle and Integrated Tourism Projects provide just that.

The Wave is expected to launch its first marina front apartments this year and so far, nationals from the GCC, India and Europe have taken an interest in purchasing property in the complex, whether it will be for residential purposes or accommodation for an Oman holiday.

Muscat is a popular destination for tourists, and during holidays to Oman, holidaymakers can walk miles along the citys beautiful beaches and coastline or explore the historic sites and attractions such as the Al Jalali Fort and Al Mirani forts, Qasr Al Alam Royal Palace, Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, Qurum National Park and the Bait az-Zubair Museum.
