How many times have you heard that old saying

? - Dont sweat the small stuff? It seems we need constant reminders that there will always be a monkey wrench that finds its way into the works.

Well all run into adversity in our lives. Maybe its a flat tire. Maybe someone broke into your home and stole all your jewelry. Or maybe someone in your family is dealing with a chronic illness. Whatever your particular monkey wrench is this month, you know therell be another at some point. Its pretty much guaranteed.

The whole thing is how do you deal with adversity? Do you let it get you down, or do you use it as a springboard to bigger and better things? Do you find new levels of strength within yourself when bad times come knocking? Or do you stick your head in the sand and hope it all just goes away?

Here are some sure signs you could handle things better:

1.You blame others

2.You get angry and hold grudges

3.You paint yourself as a victim

4.You complain or make rude comments

5.You shut down

6.You fail to offer options or solutions

When something bad happens, we all wish that the good fairy would perch on our shoulder, wave her magic wand, and make the mess go away. But this is reality, not a story from Hans Christian Anderson. The only person who can make it better is YOU.

Instead of blaming someone else, realize that you are responsible for everything that comes into your life. If this is a new concept for you, just think about it for a minute. If youre responsible for everything in your life, then youve got the power to create the life you want!

Instead of getting angry, treat your issue like a game. Have fun (if you can) with adversity and see how you can get it to work for you.

Instead of painting yourself as the victim, take back your power. You can be anyone you want to be.

Instead of complaining, offer solutions to the situation.

Instead of shutting down, spring to life when adversity comes calling.

Just know that you will face hard times during your life. When adversity rears its lovely head, be sure to remain positive. Offer intelligent options to deal with the situation, and listen to and encourage the solutions of others.

Rememberadversity doesnt build your character. It reveals your character.
