There are the five keys to running an effective and successful affiliate program
. If you can implement these five keys you will do very, very well when it comes to running an affiliate program in conjunction with your membership site.
Key #5 - Always look to build relationships.
Remember, your affiliates are an extension of you. Everything that you can do in your business to promote your products and services, your affiliates can also do the exact same thing. So your affiliates are an extension of you. They are your virtual sales force. So knowing that, you want to build relationships with those people.
Key number four stated to focus your energies on those that are generating the most. That by all means does not suggest ignoring all of the other affiliates. All I am saying is focus your energies on those that are generating the most but you still want to communicate with all of your affiliates. You still want to provide all of them tools and resources.
It is just not as much on a personal one-on-one basis as it would be with that small group of affiliates but likewise, you still want to try to build relationships with all of your affiliates because they are a natural extension of you.
It is very much a team oriented situation where as a group, as a team, you are looking to get the word out about your products and services to as many people as possible and so you want to act like a team, you want to work like a team and you want to do things like a team as much as possible especially with your affiliate program.
When it comes to building relationships, share information with your affiliates, it goes back to what we were talking about earlier with training and educating your affiliates on the best practices. If you are seeing your conversions increase because of a certain promotion, or increase because of a certain piece of content that certain affiliates are using, share that information.
Tell your affiliates what is going on. It is important that you look to them as part of your team, as part of your sales force and communicate and share information with the openly because that is going to help them with their promotions and is going to increase the likelihood that they will continue to promote you every single month.
