An anniversary gift is one thing that is commonly given to a couple celebrating their wedding anniversary

There are no hard and fast rules about what to give to the couple celebrating their anniversary but there are many gift givers who want to give a symbolic anniversary gift to show the persons that they are well aware of the importance of the years they spent with one another. People who have no regard for the importance of the length of years will give anything that can pass for a gift or a Christmas gift as an anniversary present.

You can find two types of anniversary gifts which are based on the years that the couple has been married. They are the classic and modern anniversary gift equivalents that should be given to the couple throughout their anniversary.

Years and Gifts

The first year anniversary should have a traditional anniversary gift of paper and a modern gift of clocks. For those who are wondering what type of anniversary gift paper can be, suggestions include large, framed photos, personalized stationery set and even paper bills? The second year anniversary gift should have a traditional cotton gift and a modern China gift. Cotton could be anything made from cotton such as bed sheets, towels and even clothes while China can be a set of dinner ware or tea cups.

For the third anniversary, the traditional gift is anything leather while the modern is crystal or glass. The fourth year anniversary traditional anniversary gift is flowers or fruits while the modern gifts could be appliances of any sort. The fifth year anniversary is generally bestowed with wood for the traditional gifts and silverware for the modern gifts.

Counting by Fives

A lot of couples have big anniversary celebrations every five or ten years. The tenth year anniversary gift in the traditional sense is tin or aluminum while the modern model is diamond jewelry. In the fifteenth year, traditional gifts are crystal and the modern gift could be watches. Twentieth year gifts for the traditional side are China and the modern anniversary gift could be anything platinum. On the twenty-fifth year, the traditional and modern anniversary present is silver.

Dinnerware and flatware made from silver are common selections for this year. Beginning with the thirtieth to the sixtieth anniversary, these years are allotted precious stones. Thirty years offers pearl for traditional gifts and diamonds for the modern anniversary gifts. The thirty-fifth year has coral and jade respectively as anniversary presents. Starting from the fortieth year, both modern and traditional gifts are the same. Forty years is dark red while fiftieth year is gold. Sixty years is diamond.
