There is a myth that you should give 100 strokes to your hair with the brush at night. This is not true. You should brush only to remove all the tangles from your hair. Also, you should avoid brushing when your hair is wet and if you do so, you should try combing your hair with a wide toothed comb.

Avoid sharing combs with each other. This is because some of your friend might be having lice present in his/her hair which might get transmitted to you through this route.

To make sure that all portions of your hair are combed fully and properly, you can divide your hair in three sections. Give attention to each and every section of your hair separately. Lock the 3 sections with a soft clamp so that when you wake up, you find them in the original condition.

While brushing, put the bristly side of the brush up against your hair. Start from the root and work brushing up through your hair to the tip.

The size of the brush is important because the size is dependent on the length of your hair. For example, finer hair should be combed with a smaller brush. This is because finer hair needs to be lifted from the root tip and the smaller the brush, the greater the lifting up.

Moreover, there are some brush types that you should know: Heavy wooden brushes are most famous because they are easier to straighten your hair with. However, due to their heaviness, molded brushes are much lighter so you will not stress your arm muscles. Alternatively, a large paddle brush will allow o give your hair a smooth silky look.
