Kyocera Mita KM-1820 – Small Workgroup Multifunctional Center
Kyocera Mita KM-1820 Small Workgroup Multifunctional Center
Complete with standard network printing capabilities, the Kyocera Mita KM-1820 offers small workgroups an all around solution for a variety of document processing needs. With an optional fax modem, the unit can execute a network fax function that allows users to send and receive fax data directly from their PC. A long list of other versatile features makes the KM-1820 one of the more well rounded MFCs out there.
The Kyocera Mita KM-1820 comes complete with very basic paper handling abilities including a standard 250 sheet paper drawer and a 50 sheet multi purpose tray. The additional 50 sheet tray is helpful for auto loading special media types without having to swap out the standard paper supply. It is also compatible with the device's auto switching mode that changes automatically back and forth between paper trays depending on the input type. An additional 250 sheet tray is also available separately.
With a warm up time of 20 seconds, the Kyocera Mita KM-1820 gets up and running quickly, and its first page out time of 8 seconds assures that single page documents will process quickly. First copy out time drags behind slightly at 9.5 seconds, while standard print speeds top out at 18 pages per minute for legal sized paper and 15 pages per minute for letter size.
The device's print resolutions can be selected between a 600 x 600 dot per inch mode with 256 levels of tone, or fast 1200 mode (1800 x 600) and 2400 x 600 KIR dots per inch. Standard memory is quite adequate at 96 MBs of RAM which can be upgraded via a single 100 pin DIMM slot to a maximum of 320 total MBs. 64 MB and 128 MB additional memory cards are also optional.
Unfortunately standard 3 x 5 in. index cards are not compatible with the unit, as it can only print as small as 5.5 in. x 8.5 in. and as large as legal size. Paper weights can range from 16 28 lbs in the paper drawers and up to 90 lb index via the multi purpose tray. Bond paper, recycled paper, transparencies, and envelopes are all compatible with the device.
The copy machine utilizes a flip up top and 50 page automatic document feeder for optimal copy speed and versatility. It also comes complete with a range of features including various imaging modes (auto, text, photo, text / photo, manual, ECO) and continuous copy abilities up to 999 with an automatic reset. Auto magnification, paper select, scan once print many, electronic sort, 2 in 1, 4 in 1, job reserve, and ECO mode are just a few of the many other features the copy machine offers.
While the Kyocera Mita KM-1820 is strictly monochrome when printing, scanning can be done in full color in resolutions up to 600 dots per inch optically. Faxing is completely optional, and is G3 compatible. With four functions collected into one single unit, the Kyocera Mita KM-1820 could be a money saving option for a small office.
