When you think of LG's Cookie range, your first thoughts are "affordable

, touch screen and chocolate chip", or maybe that is just me. Well LG have come back with another batch. The new phone is called the LG Cookie Plus GS500 and it was recently debuted in France. It is an affordable touch screen smartphone and LG have loaded the device with 3G network coverage, support for a number of messaging features including social networking and a digital camera. If this phone is anything like its predecessors in the Cookie range, it will see a whole lot of success.

Aesthetically, the Cookie Plus is a little easier to look than the previous Cookie model, it has smoother lines and is ever so slightly smaller and lighter the screen is the same size though; the WQVGA screen measures at 3 inches which is basically the minimum requirement for a fully fledged, touch sensitive smartphone. It comes in three different colours, including Purple and of course Black. Where the buttons on the old Cookie were squarer, LG have opted to round them of for a more bubbly appearance.

The bubbles don't end in the looks department though, the interface on the phone is super interactive and very fun to play with, it includes the LiveSquare which is a mini world populated by your favourite contacts, only your contacts appear as mini creatures. The general user experience is delightful to say the least and although the screen technology is resistive as opposed to capacitive it is still quite responsive and is an ample navigation tool for this phone.

3G plays a big part in handheld phones today as mobile social networking is becoming increasingly popular across all target demographics. The Cookie Plus thankfully has 3G this time around and it works hard behind the scenes to support the phones online aspects like social networking and web browsing. You can bring you Facebook account direct to your screen, while other sites like Twitter and Flickr have also found there way onto the phone.

The LG Cookie Plus has been enriched by the variety of communications it supports. Among the basic calling and messaging is there unique LG Editable Screenshot MMS; this allows you to save images and web pages from the web browser, edit them and send them to friends. E-mail is another option and you can calibrate the device to manage your inbox, send, and receive mail.

The fully loaded digital camera system includes a 3MP lens and it is capable of reasonable video recordings. There is a video player and music player included; both can playback multiple file types while a 3.5mm AV jack lets you plug in your headphones. The memory can be expanded, thanks to the microSD slot and the microUSB port lets you connect and synch your Cookie Plus to a PC.

The LG Cookie range is proving to be quite a force in the current market, buyers seam to appreciate its great value for money and its affordability. The Cookie Plus is the first in the range to boast 3G and this is just one if the signs that LG are looking to make the Cookie brand a house hold name among smartphone enthusiasts.
