(If you are under 35 you probably dont remember it unless you watch retro commercials as a hobby.) A lot of people have been singing that lately about the Prius and Toyota now has a new model to plug into the song. Oh what a feeling to drive an FT-CH!

Okay, doesnt flow very well, does it? The FT-CH is Toyotas new concept compact hybrid (hence the CH). It was unveiled at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit and has been creating quite a buzz. In fact, some in the auto industry think the FT-CH could just be the next big thing, or small thing as the case may be.

Lake Worth Toyota Prius buyers will be happy to hear that this new concept car has the advantages of the Prius, fuel economy and smaller size, but actually comes in at a lighter weight and a lower price. Toyota has developed this car as part of a plan to create eight new hybrid vehicles by 2015. These cars will run the gamut from battery electric to plug-in hybrid to fuel cell vehicles.

Toyota is counting on this model being popular with the younger crowd with its bit of retro styling and affordable price. The smaller size, about 22 inches shorter than Prius, will also make it more practical in tight spaces and for city driving. Those at the Lake Worth used Toyota dealership believe it will go over well. Why shouldnt it? Its related to the Prius, right?

Even with its smaller size, the FT-CH is designed to be comfortable for passengers and for maximum interior space. Its high-energy design and vivid features should resonate well with some younger buyers who might not be Prius people.

Comments made by Toyota Motors President Jim Lentz explain a lot about why Toyota is pushing its hybrid development so strongly. Lentz explained that the worldwide demand for liquid fuel will likely exceed the supply within two decades. He plans for Toyota to lead the way in reinventing vehicles to use renewable fuel.
